Is BandCheck a claims management company?

No — Council Tax appeals fall outside the FCA's claims management perimeter.

BandCheck is not authorized or regulated by the FCA, and does not need to be. The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Claims Management Activity) Order 2018 lists six categories of regulated claims activity — personal injury, criminal injury, housing disrepair, employment, specified benefits, and financial services. Council Tax band appeals are not in that list. We are a software tool, not a claims firm. We are subject to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, UK GDPR, ASA/CAP advertising codes, and Trading Standards general powers — but not FCA conduct rules or fee caps.
